Interview with Wiley Cub Founder Malakye Wiley Beagle

Passion, Quality and Individuality.

Those are the three qualities that is at the heart of London based retail brand, Wiley Cub.

Since Establishing in 2017, Wiley Cub has been a roaring success. Incorporating a blend of urban, street and gym wear, founder Malakye Wiley Beagle has always had a strategic plan for continual and sustainable growth.

With retail being a heavily saturated and competitive market, Malakye had his detractors. However, he wouldn’t give up because he believed in himself and his plan for Wiley Cub.

He believed in making his customers feel like a community or a family. Building that long-lasting relationship and making the customer feel connected.

This year’s Christmas Pop Up shops have been going great for with some stock selling out. From that success to the amazing feedback from customers, it’s not hard to see why big things are ahead for Wiley Cub.

Touching on things from why he started Wiley Cub, to where he sees the brand going in 2020. I had the great opportunity to interview Wiley Cub Founder Malakye Wiley Beagle. Which you can check out below.

What was your inspiration and motivation to start Wiley Cub?

“I wasn’t satisfied with what the world was offering in terms of comfort, style, and quality. I’m a chill guy, I like to be comfortable. But I don’t want to be spending £100+ on a tracksuit that’s only going to last me one wash. Quality is important. Choose the best for yourself”

What’s been the most challenging obstacle you have faced since establishing Wiley Cub?

“The biggest obstacle is relaying the quality of clothing to the digital world. Yes, it looks cool but there’s more to us than that! When people feel it – they cop it instantly.”

You’ve garnered a lot of awareness through word of mouth and social media. What do you think it is that makes Wiley Cub stand out?

“It’s made people happy. Wiley Cub fills that gap in the market by combining what’s cool and what’s feel great. We’ve a wide range audience from little children to adults (XS to XXL!). It’s hard for a new brand to grab a wide audience but the demand has been there for both big and little Wiley Cubs.”

You recently released the Cultured Collection V1.0 last month. What to you makes that collection special?

“I fell in love with this collection in my mind before I even put it on paper. I wanted to bring to life the streets of London through clothing. Then blend in an element of sleek and simple styling/ colours to open up the range. This is why we have your street guys buying it – straight up to your doctors, lawyers and solicitors. It’s relatable, it’s quality and it grabs your attention. It’s the different elements of London in a garment.”

What would you say to someone who is only now finding out about Wiley Cub?

“I’m confident enough in Wiley Cub to say, once you have tried us, you will be returning for the next season. This is our third season and we still have the same customers buying who locked in at season 1. We are a growing family! I don’t want the element of community within our brand to die out. It’s so important to keep that running no matter how big we get.”

Looking ahead, what is the goal for you and for Wiley Cub in 2020?

“Wiley Cub 2020 sees more colour, more ambition, and more branching out. We are getting more customers worldwide. Our aim is to stay focused, keep connected with our Wiley Cub customers (The Family) and keep authentic. We aim to operate on a big scale but with a family feel. Everyone is welcome. Stepping into our clothes is like having your family meal at your Nans. There’s contentment, satisfaction and you always leave feeling full, knowing you’ll be going back!”
